Our Catholic Life
Limerick Diocesan Magazine
Summer 1968

From the Limerick City Library
Local Studies Archive:

Our Catholic Life was the journal of the Roman Catholic diocese of Limerick from 1954 to 1970. The content of the journal includes many articles of historic interest. The Summer No 2 edition 1968 included article headed:
The Travelling People
by
Brian Kelly
The problems of itinerants has hit the headlines in the past few months. with the result that many local communities emerged to help these unfortunate people. We in Limerick have our own committee. It was formed a little over 18 months ago. Go to this link Page 10 for the full story.

My Calligraphy

Greetings again from my blog. I have just added one of my favourite pieces of calligraphy. I created this in 1996 and presented, on behalf of my class, the original to my one of my lecturer's in LIT, Limerick. He was going onto greener fields. This is a copy which got a little damaged. However I still like it.
This week I'm afraid I'm off work after straining/spraining my right shoulder. I'm told by my doctor it should take about a week for things to come right. Maybe I'll find time to do some more calligraphy. I find it very therapeutic and of course I get great satisfaction from it.

My Grandnieces

Continuation of my musings/thoughts:

This evening Wednesday 24th May while visiting my grandnieces I was treated to a surprise. It would appear that young Ciara is a budding writer. She seems to be passionately concerned about her future career and is in the middle of creating her first novel. No sport for Ciara...she must engage her intellectual powers. It's thrilling to imagine that I might be in the presence of a future Nobel Literary recipient. Maybe if I behave myself she might agree to have me publish some of her work in this Blog.
Her sister is more of the interactive type at home on the sports field with her "mates" engaged in that unique Irish game of camogie. It's a cross between hockey and lacrosse. Oh to be young again!!!

Diary of Misc Information which interests me.

Monday evening, May 21st 2007.

Hi folks,

As this is my first attempt at a blog I will attempt to record some personal thoughts from time to time.

This afternoon I visited my dentist, the first time in an age. Thank God my worst fears were not realised. It seems that my teeth/gums are generally in good nick. In future I'm promising myself that I will not neglect my health.

Also I must not neglect my friends.

That's all for now.
